• History. Wren designed the church. Handel played the organ in it. Disraeli was baptised in it. The Royal Free Hospital was founded as a result of a young lady dying on its steps. You are most welcome to come and look round. (But mind the steps, obviously!)

                           A people without history

                           Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern

                          Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails

                          On a winter’s afternoon, in a secluded chapel

                          History is now and England.

• Reflection. A man used to spend an hour or two most days at the back of his church, just being quiet. The vicar asked him what he did during these times. ‘Sometimes I sits and thinks’, he replied, ‘and sometimes I just sits.’ With all the demands made upon us, we sometimes need space to sit and think, or just to sit. St. Andrew’s offers that. And many people find that the large icon of the Cross, made in memory of the children of Beslan and all victims of terrorism, provides a good focal point for their thought and prayer.
